We had the WKCE tests this week. They are the tests that are given to all Wisconsin fourth grade students. They are pretty time consuming and extremely looooonnnnngggg! We were in the middle of a long one...the children were all working on the tests...and then in the distance a siren started to sound. I think you need to picture where our school is located. It is next to a Church on the corner of a very busy intersection in town so we do hear a siren now and again. Well, after the siren passed and the volume was going down, I looked up from my desk to check on the progress of the children.
There was one little girl sitting in her seat, head held upright with her eyes closed. Her hands were folded on her desktop. She sat that way for a second or two. It was long enough for me to begin to walk toward her with the intention to nudge her and encourage her to continue on with her tests...after all, these are timed and they do not give a whole lot of extra time in each test. I got up from my seat and took a step.
Do you know what I saw? This little girl (with eyes still closed) slowly crossed herself, opened her eyes, unfolded her hands, picked up her pencil, and continued on with her test.
Thank you God for the opportunity to experience You in these beautiful children!
We had talked earlier in the year about pausing and saying a prayer for thoses in need when you hear a siren or see an ambulance passing. I think we discussed it once or twice. These children are so sincere with their love for Jesus!
Please continue to pray for them and their continued growing in love for our awesome God!
Have a beautiful day!
Mary
Jesus, I trust in You!
