Family Prayers

A Decade a Day for Families

Anyone who knows me personally, knows that I believe that bringing adults to know and love Jesus will be accomplished through the children.  I have taught children for over 25 years.  I know from my experiences through my own children and my many classroom children that they hunger to know Jesus.  This hunger is fed through prayer.  In our school, we teach the children to pray the Rosary.  We start with a decade.  We used to call it our "Daily Decade" but I would like to begin to call this time for prayer, "A Decade a Day".

Families are in crisis.  Children are in crisis.  Jesus is the answer and His beautiful Blessed Mother will lead families into His arms.

Our family began praying a decade of the Rosary on the way to school in the morning.  We started adding prayers to the decade.  I found that through time we had not only memorized the prayers of the Rosary but also the Fatima prayer, St. Michael the Archangel, Prayer to St. Gertrude, and even the beautiful prayer that Mary said, The Magnificat.  We have grown as a family and in our prayer life.  We now pray a decade of the Rosary every evening before the children go to bed.

Teach your children to pray.  Let them see you love and honor God through prayer.  Let them see how you value prayer each day.  Teach them.  If you do not know how to pray, the way you learn is to start.  Just start.  Choose one prayer to learn and then teach it to your children.  Then teach them another...
Peace and all good,
Mary
Jesus, I trust in You!
