Mother Teresa

I am reading a book by Susan Conroy titled, Mother Teresa's Lessons of Love & Secrets of Sanctity. (I apologize for not underlining the title...I don't quite know how to do it in a post.)
I was in need of a prayer to begin our teaching day and this was so relevant to my needs...

Mother Teresa taught us that simple human thoughtfulness is the beginning of holiness.

"If you learn the art of being thoughtful, you will be more and more like
Christ; His heart was kind and gentle, and He always thought of others.
Jesus did good wherever He went." Mother Teresa

We must be like that too. If you thind well of others, you will also speak well of others. If your heart is full of love, you will speak of love. Words are powerful. They can bring great sadness and unrest or they can cause joy and create peace.

Dear Jesus,

Help us to spread Your fragrance everywhere we go. Flood our souls with Your spirit and life. Penetrate and possess our whole being, so utterly, that our lives may only be a radiance of Yours. Shine through us, and be so in us, that every soul we come in contact with may feel Your presence in our soul. Let them look up and see no longer us, but only Jesus! Stay with us, and then we shall begin to shine as You shine; so to shine as to be a light to others.

The light, O Jesus, will be all from You, none of it will be ours. It will be You, shining on others through us. Let us thus praise You without preaching, not by words but by our example, by the catching force, the sympathetic influence of what we do, the evident fullness of the love our hearts bear to You.

Amen.

This young woman who authored this book, left the comforts and security of her home to go and spend time with Mother Teresa in Calcutta. Fascinating read. Once you start the book it is hard to put down. Be prepared to do a lot of thinking about your own life.

Jesus, I trust in You!

Mary
